The 2015 St Augustine Gamble Jam is on! Bring your instruments and your talent to Gamble Rogers Park on the 2nd & 4th Sat of every month. All skill levels.Calling all musicians in our St Augustine community.  The 2015 St Augustine Gamble Jam is on this Saturday!  Bring it!  And by that, I mean bring your instruments and your talent to Gamble Rogers Memorial State Park for a fun jam session.  All ages and skill levels are welcome!

2015 St Augustine Gamble Jam

Click here to search our featured Jacksonville/St Augustine homes for saleThe 2015 St Augustine Gamble Jam is meant to honor the memory of James Gamble Rogers IV.  A Florida Artists Hall of Fame inductee, Rogers was a talented folk musician and storyteller.  The subject of most of his stories and songs were the beloved people and places in a fictional county in Florida.  That is how the namesake of Gamble Rogers Memorial State Park became the honorary godfather of the 2015 St Augustine Gamble Jam.

On the second and fourth Friday of every month this year, musicians from all over the St Augustine community gather together for an impromptu jam session.  It doesn’t matter what your skill levels is: beginner, intermediate or advanced.  Everyone is welcome to bring in their instrument of choice to rock out at the 2015 St Augustine Gamble Jam.  Don’t play an instrument?  That’s OK.  Every musician loves an audience.  You can watch and encourage from the sidelines.

Admission to the 2015 St Augustine Gamble Jam is absolutely free.  You only have to pay park admission, which is $5 per carload (2-8 people), $4 for a single occupant vehicle and $2 per pedestrian or anyone on a bicycle.  Make sure you bring a chair so you can listen in comfort.  Dancing is highly encouraged.

Come watch as Jacksonville Landing plays One Musical Note this Saturday to help raise money for and awareness of diseases that affect men, women and kids.Jacksonville Landing Plays One Musical Note for a cure this Saturday, August 1st.  Musicians for a Cure and the National Pink Tie Organization offers up One Musical Note, a concert to help raise awareness of several different diseases.  Musicians from all over our Jacksonville community will be playing a free concert just for you!

The goal of the National Pink Tie Organization is to help raise awareness for all types of diseases, including cancer, lymes disease, lupus and more.  They know that finding cures for these diseases costs money.  That is why they do fundraising events like this.  When Jacksonville Landing plays One Musical Note, funds raised will go towards research and support groups.

Organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Dreams Come True, the Lupus Foundation and In the Pink will have information booths set up around the venue.  Early detection is the key to a successful outcome.  Learn about what signs to watch out for and what to do if you suspect you may have an issue.  Representatives from these and other organizations will be speaking in between the live musical entertainment.

Proceeds from the 2015 St Augustine Give Like a Pirate Day will benefit the St Augustine Swashbucklers’ Holiday Toy Drive.  The St Augustine Swashbucklers are a philanthropic group of pirate enthusiasts who help raise money for local charities.  During the holidays at the end of the year, the Swashbucklers organize donations of toys for underprivileged children in the St Augustine community.  The money raised from events like the 2015 St Augustine Give Like a Pirate Day will be used to purchase more toys so that even more children can be served up a happy holiday.

2015 Jacksonville Community Awareness Expo

Click here to search our featured Jacksonville/St Augustine homes for saleThe theme for the 2015 Jacksonville Community Awareness Expo is “Circus”.  And oh what a great time it sounds like it will be!  The Jacksonville Ice and Sports Complex will host this second annual event.  Community awareness is also family awareness.  That is why this event focuses on both.  Get your face painted.  The Gator Clowns will be on-site showing off their balloon making skills to the kids.  Make a tutu for your little one (or yourself).

Shop at any one of the dozens of vendors at the 2015 Jacksonville Community Awareness Expo.  Learn more about different organizations set up to help the Jacksonville community.  The Kids Zone includes bounce houses.  Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the day  Can you keep a secret?  I have it on good authority that Mickey, Minnie and even Iron Man will be stopping by to make an appearance.

Do you like basketball?  Sign yourself and two buddies up for the 3×3 Basketball Competition.  The competition is divided up into seven different divisions.  The Kiddie Co-Ed is for kids ages 10 and under.  Boys and girls ages 11 to 14 will compete separately.  Older boys and girls (ages 15 to 18) will also compete separately.  There will then be a separate women’s division and men’s division for ages 19 and above.  If you are interested, you need to register now.  Competition is limited to just 10 teams per division.  The Kiddie Co-Ed and Youth Girls ages 15-18 are already full.

Do you like to take long walks along the beach?  The 2015 Anastasia State Park Beach Clean Up includes four miles of it.  Thousands of people visit these beaches every month.  That means that mounds of trash can pile up pretty quickly.  Not everyone is thoughtful enough to pick up after themselves.  That is why events like the 2015 Anastasia State Park Beach Clean Up are so important.

How Can I Be a Part of the 2015 Anastasia State Park Beach Clean Up?

On the day of the 2015 Anastasia State Park Beach Clean Up, come to the park.  It’s free to join the clean up crew.  But, it will cost you to get in to the park itself.  Admission to the park is just $8 for any vehicle with two to eight people.  Single occupant vehicles will be charged $4.  Walkers and bicyclists will have to pay $2 each.  Go to the area assigned to you.  Check in by 8:30am.  You will be given a trash bag.  There are a limited amount of “pickers” available.  So, you may want to wear disposable gloves.  Comfy walking shoes, sunscreen and a hat are suggested.  Bring water from home so you stay hydrated.

Luckily, there are tons of 2015 Jacksonville July 4th fun in the sun events to choose from here in Jacksonville.There is quite a bit of 2015 Jacksonville July 4th fun in the sun scheduled this weekend.  Yes, July 4th is just two days away.  Can you believe it?  There is no way to be bored when you are in the Jacksonville community, though.  Check out what’s happening on Saturday, July 4th below.

Visit the farmer’s market to pick up something for your family BBQ.  Come back for the live entertainment all day long on the River Stage.  Fireworks light up the skies over the St John’s River at 9:45pm.

Jacksonville Landing also offers up some 2015 Jacksonville July 4th fun.  Enjoy a live musical concert by X Hale from 3pm to 8pm.  Follow that up with the Ivey West Band from 8pm to 1am.

Friendship Fountain Park offers tons of hands-on activities at the Museum of Science and History before the big show over the St Johns River.

Just a 45 minute drive south is Green Cove Springs.  That is where you’ll find the American Pie 4th of July festivities.  Enjoy music, pony and train rides, slip and slides and more.  The car show runs from 10am to 2pm.  Food vendors will be more than happy to keep your tummies full.  Fireworks start at 9:30pm.  Pets are welcome.  Proceeds benefit various Clay County charities.

As you can see, there are tons of things to do for your 2015 Jacksonville July 4th fun in the sun this Saturday.  Always remember to be safe.  The loud sounds of the fireworks can scare even the tamest of animals.  It might be a good idea to keep your pets at home.  If you do bring them out, make sure they are on a leash for their safety and the safety of others.
