Jacksonville Weekend Runs

Several Jacksonville weekend runs are scheduled on Saturday, October 25th to raise money for various worthwhile charities in the Jacksonville community. Photo Courtesy @Andrei Mihalcea - Dreamstime Stock Photos_2Walking and running are both great ways to exercise, especially in the Jacksonville community.  They both get your blood pumping and your heart beating while you enjoy the great outdoors.  I know of a way you can get your exercise in while helping out great causes and having some fun: Jacksonville weekend runs.

What: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Awareness Walk
When: Saturday, October 25, 2014 7:30am, Walk starts at 9am
Where: Jacksonville Landing

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, this 5K/3.1 Mile walk is meant for everyone of all ages and fitness levels.  Be inspired by those who have fought their battle against breast cancer and lived to tell the tale at the Survivors’ tent.  You can register online by visiting the American Cancer Society website link above.

Search homes for sale in Jacksonville FL

Are you a gamer?  Then this event is right up your alley.  For 24 hours, participants will play all sorts of video games to help raise money for pediatric programs provided by Wolfson Children’s Hospital and UF Health Jacksonville.  Extra Life is part of the Children’s Miracle Network.  Just sign up here, create a fundraising page, ask four people to sponsor you for at least $1 per hour ($24 total each) and get comfy on October 25th.  That’s when you’ll be playing video games for 24 hours straight.

What: Fright for Sight Costume Run
When: Saturday, October 25, 2014 9am
Where: Beaches Town Center, 200 1st St, Neptune Beach

Take your Halloween costume out for a test run at the Fright for Sight Costume Run.  There will be a 5K course and a 1 mile fun run to choose from.  You don’t have to wear a costume to participate.  But it will probably be more fun for you if you did!  All money raised benefits Vision is Priceless, an organization that provides sight-saving programs for the Jacksonville community.  You can register for the Fright for Sight Costume Run online here.

Everywhere you turn next weekend, it looks like the Jacksonville community will be busy…running!  No matter which one of the Jacksonville weekend runs you sign up for, you are going to have a fun time.  And you’ll be raising money for some very worthy charities.  Way to go!
