Search homes for sale in Jacksonville FLThe Jacksonville Funk N Run 2014 is comprised of three separate challenges: the Funk N Run 5K Color Run (appropriate for all ages and physical fitness levels), Funk N Challenge (a military-style obstacle course for those athletes among us) and the Funky Field Day Challenge (a kid-friendly obstacle course).  Participants in the Funk N Run are encouraged to wear white so that, by the end of their “run”, they can become rainbow warriors (the “color” is non-toxic).  After all the physical part of the Jacksonville Funk N Run 2014 is over, everyone is invited to the after-party.  Guests can refuel with some tasty food, swap out their running shoes for some dancing shoes while wiggling to the music provided and kids can get their faces painted.

The Jacksonville Funk N Run 2014 was created by a couple of military wives who put their love of running and party planning together to create a great event that gives back to the community.  This year’s Funk N Run will benefit K9s for Warriors, where dogs are rescued from shelters, trained for service and are then matched up with a military service member or vet to help ease the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  According to the US Department of Veterans Affairs, as many as 30% of military vets treated at VA hospitals experience PTSD.  However, since many of our strong soldiers erroneously consider it “shameful” or “weak” to admit that they may suffer from PTSD, an even larger portion of the military population may be affected than have been reported.  That’s why service animals are important in helping returning soldiers ease back into civilian life.  Think of these animals as service dogs for the mind.

It’s not too late to sign up for the Jacksonville Funk N Run 2014.  Visit the Funk N Run website to get your tickets today.  Everyone is in for a Funk N Good time!
